What To Bring To The Ice
So you’re planning a trip to CDA On Ice! There’s no doubt it’s going to be a blast! Maybe you’re bringing the whole family, maybe it’s a team event at work, or maybe you’re planning a romantic date night on the ice! In any situation, the experience will be all the more magical with just a few small preparations.
Be Ready For The Weather
We suggest you dress as you would for any outdoor event activity this time of year. Check the weather before you come. It’s a good idea to cover your hands and head to keep the heat in. We recommend gloves that attach to your jacket so you can shed them when you’re ready to clutch a warm cup of loaded hot cocoa!
If you reserved one of our igloos, you’re welcome to bring a blanket to cozy up in there while you watch others skate. There is seating and a portable heater in each igloo. Sorry, we do not allow outside food or beverages in our igloos.
Long Socks
Perhaps the most important wardrobe decision will be your footwear! We’ve got the ice skates covered - those are included in the skate rental fee. But if you have your own, feel free to bring them! The most important footwear to remember is long socks! Ice skates lace up above the ankle, so it’s a good idea to protect your skin from the skate rubbing against it with some cozy socks. They’ll keep those toes warm, too!
A Padlock
Dressing in layers is another good approach to your skate session. You can get warm skating - it is an active pastime. Shedding a sweatshirt, hat, or gloves is handy for those more intense skaters! We have lockers available (free of charge) to store your items while on the ice. Please bring your own lock if you prefer to keep your belongings locked up. A lock is not required to use the lockers, however we cannot be liable for your personal belongings.
A Camera
CDA On Ice has multiple instagram-worthy spots to capture the memories of the evening! Snap a photo under the light tunnel, in an igloo, or in the party tent. There's even a photo booth! Don’t forget to use the hashtag #CoolestPlaceInTown when you share them on social media!
Cash or Card
You can receive your session times online here, or pay as a walk-up if you prefer. CDA On Ice accepts cash or card payments for skate rentals, session fees, and the snack shack. There’s no need to stop for coffee before coming to the rink. Come prepared to enjoy our delicious loaded hot cocoa and other snacks and beverages at our Snack Shack. We’re proud to serve the local Wake Up Call Coffee at our Snack Shack.
Preparing for your trip to CDA On Ice should be a fun and exciting occasion. It is the beginning of an incredible memory, and, hopefully, a tradition for your family for years to come!
