How Ice Skating Helps You Keep That New Year’s Resolution

A quick search will show you that the most common New Year’s resolutions include living healthier, eating healthier, losing weight, and exercising more often. Unfortunately, while many people make New Year’s resolutions, very few wind up keeping them past the first week or two.

If you long to embrace positive and healthy changes in 2023, you might be wondering how you can prepare for success when it comes to those pesky resolutions. The worst plan is no plan, As they say, when you don't create goals, you accomplish them every time.

Here are a few reasons why you should consider ice skating as a great idea for making your goals happen. As Coeur d'Alene On Ice recently opened the rink for the season, it’s perfect timing!

How Ice Skating Benefits You in 2023:

  • GET OUTSIDE!

Ice skating in our open-air, pop-up rink is one sport that will keep you outside breathing in the fresh air.

  • ENJOY THE OUTDOORS

Although we often fail to recognize the significance of it, we are more motivated by beauty. People who walk or run outside in parks or beautiful walkways are more likely to keep it up.

There are few places more lovely than downtown Coeur d'Alene. Located right at the iconic and beloved McEuen Park, CDA on Ice is surrounded by panoramic views of the hillside, the lake, and beautiful, downtown Coeur d’Alene.

  • EXERCISE

We all know that exercise is a key factor in achieving a healthy body and mind. Some of us feel residual guilt as years go by and we can never seem to find the time or we can’t find that perfect activity that we love enough to stick to it.

There are few people who have tried ice skating and did not end up loving it. You will forget that you are exercising and just get lost in the joy and beauty of moving gracefully on the ice.

  • COMMUNITY

Finally, ice skating will bring you together with friends and family or even just other people who share your love of the sport. You are much more likely to stick with something when done with others instead of all alone.

Ice skating is a great way to enjoy time with friends and family. Rent an igloo for your group, hang out at the fire pit and finish off a wonderful time skating with some loaded hot chocolate, cookies, and other snacks.
